2,500 sq ft residence located on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. The structure consisted of concrete, masonry and wood construction. This project provided a particular challenge: due to its geographic location, the wind and seismic forces were considerable and had to be carefully accounted for in the design. These forces called for rigorous detailing and coordination with the architect to ensure that the stability of the lateral and gravity systems was sufficient. The final product was a structurally and aesthetically pleasing residence on the side of a hill that displayed breathtaking view of the sea.
